Maternity Session Prep Guide

Your guide to a beautiful, relaxed, and memorable maternity photoshoot experience.

What to Wear

Your outfit is key to the style of your session. We want you to feel comfortable and beautiful!

  • Client Wardrobe: We invite you to browse our client wardrobe. We have a curated collection of beautiful gowns in various sizes and styles specifically chosen to flatter your baby bump.
  • Your Own Clothes: If you prefer your own outfits, choose solid, neutral, or soft-colored clothing. Flowy maxi dresses, form-fitting dresses that accentuate your bump, or even a simple top with a long skirt work beautifully. Avoid busy patterns, logos, or bright neon colors.
  • For Your Partner: Simple, solid-colored shirts (like button-downs or plain t-shirts) and neutral pants (khakis, jeans, or trousers) work best. Their outfit should complement yours without matching exactly.
  • Undergarments: Please wear nude-colored, seamless underwear. A strapless bra is also a great idea to have on hand.
Hair & Makeup

This is your time to be pampered! Professional hair and makeup can make a huge difference in your photos and your confidence.

  • Go Professional: We highly recommend booking a professional hair and makeup artist. They know how to style you for the camera. We have a list of trusted artists we can share with you.
  • Natural Glam: Aim for a more enhanced version of your natural look. A "camera-ready" application is typically a bit heavier than everyday makeup but will look soft and beautiful on camera.
  • Hair: Soft waves, loose curls, or a simple, elegant updo all photograph beautifully. Let your stylist know you're having a maternity shoot.
Final Preparations

A few last-minute details to ensure a smooth session.

  • Nails: Your hands will be in many of the photos, holding your belly. A simple, clean manicure with a neutral polish looks best. Don't forget your partner's nails too!
  • Rest & Hydrate: Get a good night's sleep before your session. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to it for glowing skin.
  • Snacks & Water: Please bring a bottle of water and a light snack, especially for outdoor sessions. It's important to stay comfortable.
  • Relax & Trust: The most important tip! Try to relax and enjoy this special time. I will guide you through every pose and expression. You don't need any experience. Just come ready to celebrate your beautiful journey into motherhood.
